Members of the ACPAAA provide an invaluable service to the Arlington Police Department by doing some of the
jobs that normally would have to be handled by the officers. This allows the officers to stay on the streets and protect the
citizens and the city. Below are a few of the programs that we are involved in.
SCENARIOS
FAMILY VIOLENCE
ACPAAA members are actors in a family violence
scenario. They re-create situations to teach the APD police recruits on how to handle these type of scenarios.
FELONY TRAFFIC STOPS
ACPAAA members are actors in felony stop scenarios.
APD police recruits practice making felony traffic stops and learn the do's and don't's. ACPAAA members try to make the situations
as real as possible to help the recruits prepare for the real situation.
REGULAR TRAFFIC STOPS
ACPAAA members are actors in traffic stops
scenarios. APD police recruits practice making traffic stops and learn the do's and don't's. ACPAAA members try to make the
situations as real as possible to help the recruits prepare for the real situation. ACPAAA members also volunteer to do traffic
stops scenarios for on-going CPA class.
FIELD SOBRIETY
ACPAAA members volunteer to drink alcohol
and teach recruits actions of people under the influence.
SIX FLAGS
ACPAAA members are actors in the Crazy Horse
saloon, retail shops and on the streets of the Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington theme park. There is a considerable amount
of interacting with the recruits and sworn police officers. At the Crazy Horse saloon, ACPAAA members are rowdy bar patrons,
while sworn police officers are actors causing disturbances while recruits are graded on how they handle the situations. In
other areas of the park, ACPAAA members are store owners or robbery suspects in retails shops. These are one of the last scenarios
recruits go through before graduation.
BUILDING SEARCHES
During the CPA class scenarios, along with
traffic stops, ACPAAA members are suspects hiding within a building. The class participants are officers in search of these
suspects.
PROJECT S.A.F.E.
Three consecutive week-ends in May. ACPAAA
members volunteer to help the Arlington Police Department teach the public in crime prevention methods.
FRY'S ELECTRONICS FUNDRAISER
Every Spring, ACPAAA volunteer to sell hot dogs
and sodas to raise money and raise awareness for the organization while teaching the public about the Arlington Police
Department.
TRAINING CENTER
ACPAAA members are requested to help with
filing or sorting paperwork that frees officers to perform other functions.
POLICE AWARDS BANQUET
Every year, the Arlington Police Department holds
its annual police awards banquet, and the ACPAAA members always volunteers to serve the food at the banquet.
RECEPTIONS
The ACPAAA members hosts three receptions (soon
to be four) for the police officers and the personnel that work in the police departments at the West station, East Station, North Station, and the newly opened South Station. The
receptions start around 9:00am to midnight for three consecutive days. The long hours ensure all three shifts from each station
is covered. This is one of the most important things that the ACPAAA does for the Arlington Police Department. It is something
the officers look forward and remember.
HOLIDAY MALL PATROL
Every holiday season, beginning after Thanksgiving,
the Arlington Police Department requests the help of the ACPAAA to assist in manning the security cameras, the MC-1 (APD's
Mobile Command) and the Skywatch.
